Balboa Peninsula
A long, narrow strip of land between the Pacific Ocean and Newport Harbor, home to the famous Wedge, Balboa Pier, and classic beach culture.
About Balboa Peninsula
The Balboa Peninsula is Newport Beach's original beach community — a long, narrow strip of land that separates the Pacific Ocean from Newport Harbor, stretching from the Newport Pier to the East Jetty. The peninsula's ocean side offers some of Orange County's best surfing, including the legendary Wedge, where massive shore break waves attract the world's best bodysurfers and bodyboarders. The harbor side is lined with private docks, boat slips, and the charming Balboa Village, centered on the historic Balboa Pavilion. The peninsula has a distinctly different character from the rest of Newport Beach — more casual, more youthful, more connected to the raw energy of the ocean.
