Which Newport Beach beach is best for families with young children?

Corona del Mar State Beach and the bay side of the Balboa Peninsula are best for young children — the water is calmer and more protected. Balboa Beach is also excellent with its wide sandy expanse and lifeguard coverage.

Is swimming safe at Newport Beach?

Most Newport Beach beaches are safe for swimming with lifeguard coverage during summer months. The Wedge is NOT recommended for swimming due to its powerful shore break. Always swim near a lifeguard tower and check current conditions.

Can you have bonfires on Newport Beach?

Yes — Newport Beach has designated fire rings at several beach locations. The fire rings are first-come, first-served and are extremely popular on summer evenings. Arrive early to secure a spot.
